Crisis in Darfur: Live from Second Life with Mia Farrow, John Heffernan, Ronan Farrow, Ron Haviv, and Bill Lichtenstein (moderator). Mia Farrow, actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, appears live in the virtual 3-D on-line community Second Life to discuss and answer questions about the crisis in Darfur. The Second Life event in January 2007 takes place in front of a virtual replica of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and a dramatic exhibit of photographs depicting the genocide emergency. Speakers include: John Heffernan, Director of the Genocide Prevention Initiative of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Committee on Conscience; Ron Haviv, an award-winning photojournalist, whose images of Darfur are part of the virtual event; Ronan Farrow, UNICEF Spokesperson for Youth in Sudan, Genocide Intervention Network representative, and author of numerous articles on the crisis in Darfur; and Bill Lichtenstein, president of Lichtenstein Creative Media, who served as moderator. The event in Second Life took place at a virtual replica of "Our Walls Bear Witness - Darfur: Who Will Survive Today?" the powerful, outdoor photography exhibition highlighting images of the Darfur crisis by leading photojournalists that were projected onto the exterior of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC during Thanksgiving Week 2006. The virtual event in Second Life allowed visitors from around the world to experience the traveling photography exhibit with its moving, thought-provoking photos, as well as to view video of the real life outdoor installation at the Holocaust Museum. The event comes as the situation in Darfur continues to worsen dramatically. The conflict, now in its fourth year, has driven 2.5 million Darfuris from their homes, with an estimated death toll of 200,000. The world's largest humanitarian operation involving 14,000 humanitarian aid workers, is becoming increasingly threatened. The event in Second Life is held on the LCMedia sim at The Infinite Mind virtual broadcast center, and simultaneously broadcast in Second Life in Camp Darfur, and Global Kids, on the Second Life teen grid. The virtual "Our Walls Bear Witness" photography exhibit remains in Second Life until February 15, 2007. For more on the event and the Crisis in Darfur, visit www.LCMedia.com/darfurevent.htm

最令人振奋的是由Harris写的“队歌”Iron Maiden,Paul Di'Anno充满激情地唱到:“IRON MAIDEN can't be fought,IRON MAIDEN can't be sought....IRON MAIDENS gonna get you, no matter how far! 另外带一句,严格地讲其实这并不是MAIDEN最早出版的作品,因为他们在1979年曾经出版过一张叫The Soundhouse Tapes的EP,那里收录了Iron Maiden、Prowler、Invasion(正式专辑中没有这首歌,后来在The Number Of The Beast中,它被改编为Invaders)、Strange World四首歌的DEMO,其中的Iron Maiden、Strange World在1996年出版的精选集Best Of The Beast(双碟版)中能听到,乐队人员不同,鼓手不是Clive Burr,而是Doug Sampson,吉他手也只有Dave Murray一个,编曲音色上都没什么太大差别,但演奏上却存在一定缺陷,Doug Sampson的速度似乎跟不上吉他,老慢一点,这也是他被替掉的一个重要原因吧。 The Number Of The Beast。 The Number Of The Beast时曾说,MAIDEN是在那时形成的精细的曲风。 这位曾经与DEEP PURPLE(监制经典专辑In Rock,制作经典现场Maiden In Japan)、BLACK SABBATH(制作Heaven And Hell和The Mob Rules)合作的大师从此开始了与MAIDEN的长期合作,他为乐队带来了一系列的经典专辑,MAIDEN得以成就在金属界的霸主地位,MARTIN功不可没。 IRON MAIDEN - 1982 - The Number Of The Beast 当时KERRANG杂志作了一个鼓手排名的问卷,结果Clive名列第三(不服,这样优秀的鼓手排第三,Who Is The Number One? Killers、Children Of The Damned等等。 A Very Special Thanks To Clive Burr——Good Luck Mate。 IRON MAIDEN - 1985 - Live After Death 2 Minutes To Midnight,The Trooper到13分钟长的叙事诗Rime Of The Ancient Mariner(这首歌的这个版本是我最喜欢的IM作品),从The Number Of The Beast,Hallowed Be Thy Name到Running Free,长达70分钟的专辑(磁带版更长达100分钟)从头到尾全部是熟悉得不能再熟悉的歌曲。 (The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner);身在他乡异地的陌生人,年轻时满载梦想与希望离开家乡,在漂泊中寻找另外一个精彩的世界 Caught Somewhere In Time,Dont't Waste My Time,Always Searching For Those Wasted Years。 IRON MAIDEN - 1988 - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Seven deadly sins/ Seven ways to win/ Seven holy paths to hell/ And your trip begins...... 每次听到Infinite Dreams中Bruce Dickinson充满迷惑的唱道“Help me, help me to find my true self/ Without seeing the future/ Save me, save me from the torturing myself/ Even within my dreams”,我也忍不住被他们的音乐带到了那庄周梦蝶的境界,梦境与现实,究竟孰真孰假,难以辨明。而The Evil That Men Do则带给我强烈的困惑,在自私的爱情背后,难道竟是邪恶在隐藏?The Clairboyant中那种强烈的宿命情绪则让你感到恐惧,“There's time to live but isn't it strange/ That as soon as you're born you're dying”。 IRON MAIDEN - 2000 - Brave New World DICKINSON IS BACK! 直到灯光亮起,巨大的Eddie雕像缓缓升起,所有人都找到了目标,围拢起来,跟着Dickinson一起高呼:“Your time will come/Your time will come”是啊,Dickinson,Eddie,浴火重生的IRON MAIDEN,还有这张专辑Brave New World都在向全世界宣布:过去的就让他过去吧,一个崭新的时代来临了! 第一句“I have sailed to many lands /Now I make no final journey/On the boat I stand ,west is where I go”就有如“风萧萧兮易水寒,壮士一去兮不复还”般悲壮。 但水手的意志更加坚定,握紧手中的舵,胜利就在面前“I will not fail now as sunrise comes the darkness left behind”! 看着国内一些著名的军事论坛上,那么多所谓的热血青年在一味地鼓动着战争,真想拉住他们的手,朝着海峡对岸一起高唱“We are Blood Brothers”......sigh 第五首the Mercenary进一步展示了战争的残酷:杀戮,抢劫,恐惧,“You’ve got to kill to stay alive”Dickinson在熊熊大火当中无助的呼唤“Show them no fear,show them no pain”,紧张快速的四分四十二秒过去,Dickinson又迷失在现实和梦幻之间了。 Nomad,you are the rider of mysterious..... Out of the Silent Planet似乎是Brave New World的孪生姐妹,描述同样一个荒芜死寂的世界末日景象。回头看看专辑的其他曲目,发现其他的歌曲之间也有比较近的亲缘关系,比如Ghost of the Navigator和the Nomad,Blood Brothers,the Mercenary和最后一首the Thin LKine Between Love And Hate...... 唱片目录: “Somewhere In Time” Full Length 1986 “No Prayer For The Dying” Full Length 1990 “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son” Full Length 1988 “Powerslave” Full Length 1984 “Piece Of Mind” Full Length 1983 “The Number Of The Beast” Full Length 1982 “Killers” Full Length 1981 “Iron Maiden” Full Length 1980 “Dance Of Death” Full Length 2003 “Brave New World” Full Length 2000 “Fear Of The Dark” Full Length 1992 “The X Factor” Full Length 1995 “Virtual XI” Full Length 1998 “Rock In Rio” Live 2001 “Live After Death” Live 1985 “Live At Donington” Live 1993 “The Soundhouse Tapes” EP 1979 “A Matter Of Life And Death” Full Length 2006 “A Real Live One” Live 1993 “Death On The Road” Live 2005 “A Real Dead One” Live 1993 “Aces High” Single 1984 “Be Quick Or Be Dead” Single 1992 “Beast Over Hammersmith” Best Of 2002 “Bring Your Daughter ...
